I got an email notice to a last minute birthday party. It's for one of my friends in Seattle that I went to grad school with. He's turning 39 today. Holy Shit! He's almost 40. When I was in Seattle, most of my friends were several years older than me. But I still can't believe how much time has passed, I remember freaking out when the first of my friends started turning 30! Now we're all entering middle age. Granted, I'm 6 years younger than him, but I'll be there in the blink of an eye. It's crazy. I just can't believe my friends are going to start turning 40 soon.
So I started to get slow drains about the time I got back from my trip from NYC. It eventually built up until last night, when everything backed up in my house and my washer, dishwasher, and everything in my house started backing up. Causing my tub and my toilets to overflow all over my house. They couldn't figure out the problem, maybe the mainline, maybe the sewer, they didn't know.
They snaked the entire house, eventually had to take the toilet off the base and snake out that way.
Turns out the problem was a tampon and applicator. It was fresh. Not mine either. I would NEVER flush one, that's just asking for plumbing problems. I've been a home owner enough times to know better.
It had lodged near where the mainline exits to the sewer, so it was backing up my entire house.
The thing is, I think I know who's it was. I think it was my friend Leanne's. The one who dropped me off from the airport, that same day she told me I need cosmetic surgery. She had a date right after she dropped me off, she went straight there from my house. She asked if she could use my bathroom, because she wanted to change her tampon before her date. I said OK.
After she left, I went to clean out my bathroom and there was absolutely nothing in the garbage, no applicator, no old tampon, nothing. Didn't think of anything at the time, because, you know, private stuff didn't want to ask any questions. But that evening was the first time that my shower ever drained slow and I had to shower in standing water. It built up slow over the next 3 weeks until it finally stopped draining last night.
It caused me to be 3 1/2 hours late to work, cost me over $500, and did lots of nasty stuff to my floors.
So that leaves me the question, Do I mention it to her? And if so, what do I say?
Some old pics I found on my old phone when I was preparing to empty it out before I switched to my Blackberry. These are all from my drive cross country last October. The majority of these are taken in Wyoming. Well, it's a long, straight, boring, stretch of road across Wyoming. I drove from Ogden to Denver that day, so Wyoming was my "boring day".
